Substitute - Food Service Associates

The SUBSTITUTE Food Service Associate is responsible for preparing and serving nutritional meals to pupils and staff in the school. Essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Moving food to preparation area;
- Preparing food for cooking and serving;
- Cooking food, serving food, and storing food;
- Cleaning work utensils, equipment, kitchen and dining areas;
- Cashiering;
- Setting up serving lines;
- Serves, assists, and helps customers; meets customers needs;
- Follows proper sanitation and safe food handling procedures;
- Attends designated meetings and training classes;
- Performs other duties as assigned by manager and assistant manager.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to work independently and demonstrate flexibility and initiative in performing a variety of assignments. Must work well in a team setting, demonstrate positive customer service skills. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school diploma. Some knowledge of or experience in quantity food preparation is desired.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS & NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS: Works typically in school cafeteria setting with kitchen, serving line, storage areas. Extended periods of standing required. Frequent bending and lifting of food containers, food and pots weighing 1-30 pounds is required. Occasional bending and lifting up to 45 pounds of items such as cases of food. Occasional exposure to damp floors, steam from equipment and potentially caustic cleaning materials is necessary. Daily contact with principal, school staff, teachers and students is necessary. Occasional contact is made with visitors and the general public.
