The Food Service Associate is responsible for preparing and serving nutritional meals to students and staff in the local schools. Essential functions include, and are not limited to the following:
- Performs daily duties to include preparing food items, washing, chopping, mixing, cooking, assemble of recipe items and prepare for service, serving meals to customers, running cash register, cleaning of kitchen and equipment, and washing dishes, pots, utensils, etc.;
- Follows proper sanitation and safe food handling procedures;
- Serves, assists, and helps customers. Meets customer needs;
Minimum Qualifications:
- Any combination of background and experience equivalent to high school graduation
- Some knowledge of or experience in quantity food preparation and sanitation desired
- Must work well in a team setting, demonstrate positive customer service skills
- Ability to count money
Physical Conditions & Nature of Work Contacts: Works typically in a school cafeteria setting with kitchen, serving line and storage areas. Extended periods of standing required. Frequent bending and lifting of food containers, food and pots weighing 10-30 pounds is required. Occasional bending and lifting up to 45 pounds of items such as cases of food. Use of institutional kitchen equipment, such as ovens, slicers, steamers, dish machine and similar items. Occasional exposure to damp floors, steam from equipment and potentially caustic cleaning materials is necessary. Daily contact with principal, school staff, teachers and students is necessary. Occasional contact is made with visitors and the general public.
