The Role in Finance:

 

The Management Analyst II performs challenging professional and administrative work as an assistant for the entire department. Work is performed under the general direction of the supervisor.  Essential functions include, and are not limited to the following:

  • Researches and evaluates existing and proposed administrative or operational policies, practices, and techniques and recommends improvements;
  • Responsible for monitoring and analyzing complex problems;
  • Conducts in-depth and advanced research to compile information on the organization, work units, cost of services/programs and benefits of services/programs;
  • Researches and writes monthly, annual, and ad hoc reports as needed;
  • Assists in the preparation of departmental/organizational budgets;
  • Coordinates projects with other departments and divisions;
  • Represents the departments as delegated on matters involving data processing;
  • Follows up and carries out various administrative functions;
  • Designs and develops standard operating procedures as enhancements and changes are necessary;
  • Analyzes departmental documents and prepares reports;
  • Uses technology skills to analyze and make recommendations to improve departmental/organizational processes and functions;
  • Completes surveys on a variety of functions and analyzes data;
  • Utilizes Desk Top Publishing skills to enhance and produce publications;
  • Develops and manages longitudinal data files, assuring that information is maintained accurately;
  • Develops and prepares deposits and bills;
  • Greets visitors in the suite area professionally and with empathy;
  • Prepares documents for grants and program applications when needed;
  • Prepares a financial condition reports for department directors, Board of Supervisors;
  • Compiles and analyzes monthly KPI reports to identify and mitigate risk;
  • Performs data reconciliation processes monthly;
  • Serve as a backup to the Office Associate when s/he is out of the office;
  • Performs related duties as required.

Education and Experience: 

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with experience or education in business or public administration; three years experience for Management Analyst II position.

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major work in business or public administration; two years experience of a responsible nature in the area assigned for Management Analyst I position. Experience using Microsoft Office is required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of public or business administration;
  • Thorough knowledge of department objectives, procedures, and organization;
  • Knowledge of cost/benefit analytics;
  • Ability to devise procedures and methodology with attention to detail;
  • Ability to plan, organize, and think critically;
  • Effective with communicating complex ideas;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials, other employees, and the public;
  • Ability to quickly master computer applications including spreadsheets, graphics, word processing and customized technologies;
  • Ability to develop reports and analyze data;
  • Curious in nature and willing to take initiative.

 

Physical Conditions And Nature Of Work Contacts: 

Regular contacts are made with individuals from other internal departments, outside organizations, and/or the public for purposes of exchanging information which may require some judgment or interpretation. Communication is usually cooperative in nature, with infrequent conflicts resolved by higher authority. Conducts work in a sitting position; however, job requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping and light lifting. Requires frequent operation of a variety of office machines.
