The Parts & Service Clerk performs clerical and administrative work in the operation of an automotive parts storeroom. Performs a variety of routine office and typing duties.  Essential functions include, and are not limited to the following:

  • Checks quantity of items received against invoices and places new stock in storage;
  • Dispenses supplies, materials and parts as needed;
  • Takes periodic inventories;
  • Operates a variety of office machines;
  • Enters data into the computer;
  • Picks up and delivers parts as required;
  • Answers the phone, takes messages, make appointments, gives information over the phone;
  • Types letters, reports and a variety of documents from rough draft, clean copy, using typewriter or word processing equipment;
  • Files letters, cards, forms, and books, etc.,
  • Orders parts by phone;
  • May be required to serve as a substitute bus driver;
  • Performs related duties as required.


QUALIFICATIONS:   Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school with a minimum of one year of keyboarding and/or computer course work. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Satisfactory health condition as certified by competent medical authority. Must demonstrate the ability to successfully complete the Virginia Education Department training curriculum for school bus drivers and obtain a Commercial Driver's License with appropriate school bus endorsements within the probationary period.



PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS: Work is typically performed between an office setting and a storage room. Frequent bending, stooping, and lifting of at least 75 pounds is required. Frequent contact with internal departments and external vendors is required. Occasional contact with students is necessary.


SALARY:  Hiring Range:$14.19 - $17.02 per hour/annual equivalent based on experience and education

                Internal candidates will receive pay adjustments in accordance with County School Board Policy, GCBA-R.
