Woodbrook seeking to hire a fluent Spanish speaking elementary interventionist who will work as a member of a highly collaborative intervention team in a diverse Title 1 school. 


Woodbrook will become one of the few school-wide multiage public school in Central Va. that utilizes an open space classrooms where our instructional approach will be rooted in project-based/passion based interdisciplinary design facilitated through a co-teaching model . 

 

General Responsibilities

The function of this position is to provide support to classroom teachers in the implementation of Response to Intervention and to support students across the content areas. The RTI teacher will implement strategies in direct interaction with students to ensure that all children can achieve at grade level.

 

• Teaches Skills Reading and Writing class(es).

• Implements the Response to Intervention model for increasing student achievement.

• Participates in the School Based Intervention Team (SBIT) to provide appropriate and targeted interventions for students, monitor progress, and make adjustments as appropriate.

• Works with the Principal and other teachers to create learning environments for all students.

• Provides direct reading intervention instruction to students across a variety of content areas.

• Assists teachers in collecting data.

• Assists teachers in using data to drive instruction.

• Supports the principal in making data driven decisions about instruction.

• Establishes and maintains open communication and uses effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

• Supports collegiality and team building among staff members.

• Assists in creating a positive school climate.

• Performs related duties as assigned

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Candidates must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching certificate with endorsement covering grades K-5.  Reading Specialist and English as a Second Language preferred. 


PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:

Duties performed typically in school settings to include: classroom; gym, cafeteria; auditorium; and recreational areas. Frequent walking, standing, light lifting, up to 40 pounds, and other limited physical activities are required. Occasional travel with students on field trips may be necessary. Occasional movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required. Regular Instruction to special needs children may be necessary. Occasional lifting of equipment such as audio-visuals weighing up to 50 pounds may be required. Daily personal and close contact with children to provide classroom management and learning environment support is required. Regular contact with other staff members, and parents is required. Occasional contact with medical professionals may be required. Frequent contact with parents by phone and in person is necessary.
