Temporary Recreation Leaders

The Recreation Leader, under continuous supervision, conducts activities such as games, arts and crafts, tournaments, and other recreational activities.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- organizes, promotes, leads, teaches, and conducts diversified recreation activities such as arts and crafts, sports and games, music, dance, drama, nature, and special events;
- oversees the use of playground supplies and equipment;
- keeps records and makes weekly reports on attendance and recreation activities;
- gives instruction on indoor and outdoor recreational activities such as basketball, volleyball, tennis, soccer, and organized games of various types;
- plans and assists in organizing County-wide and on-site special events;
- must count children before boarding the bus at the site and before leaving to return to the site;
- makes sure emergency telephone numbers are brought on field trips;
- does not participate in any activity which might lead to personal injury;
- informs Senior Recreational Leader of potential hazards or problem situations.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should have knowledge of modern recreation practices as well as the ability to secure the cooperation of children and adults in recreation activities. Dependability, initiative and resourcefulness are essential. Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and must be at least 17 years old.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS: Work involves frequent walking, standing, and some lifting and carrying of objects of moderate weight (12-20 pounds), and daily participation in leading active games and play for children ages 6-13. Constant supervision of children and daily contact with parents.
SALARY: $8.00 - $10.00/Hourly, depending on experience and level of responsibility
LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT: June 18 – July 20, 2018 (5 week period)
