GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK: Supports academic programs that include the implementation of specialized curriculum, assessment, and instruction focused on art, engineering, and design. Serves as a student resource and and recommends and assists in the implementation of student goals and objectives. Other responsibilities include supporting students in creating works of art/music, initiating projects with core content area teachers to support their instruction, supporting instruction related to student and class projects, and providing an outlet for students' artistic expression. Work is performed under the direction and supervision of the Principal.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: -Support cross-curricular projects with classroom teachers, utilizing various makers spaces including; the music studio, broadcast studio, media center, and classrooms which encourages interaction and collaboration between multiple staff members and students alike; -Support implementation of collaborative creative projects involving students and a variety of art forms, engineering and design; -Support instruction for students using specific technical expertise on how to properly operate fabrication lab equipment including: woodworking tools, laser cutter, 3D Printers, and CNC Router; -Support instruction for students using specific technical expertise on how to properly operate engineering and design software including: AutoCAD, TinkerCAD, 123D, Photoshop, and Illustrator; -Perform other related duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in education, human services or relation field or equivalent education and work experience and some direct experience supporting student programs and services for at-risk children, ESOL students or specialized populations. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a valid appropriate driver's permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia and ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS: Work is typically performed in an office setting, with occasional extended periods of time at computer terminals. Requires frequent talking, standing, walking, bending, stooping and light lifting. Occasional visits to off-site school locations and travel with students on field trips may be necessary. Regular contact with students, teachers and other staff members, Principals and parents is required. Contact with outside organizations that provide student support services is necessary, as is contact with parents by phone and in person. Communication is usually instructive and cooperative in nature, and may require tact and discretion.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated on the ability and effectiveness in carrying out the above responsibilities. |
