Mission:

 

To engage Albemarle County Public Schools high school students or recent graduates in a Division-wide project through an 8 week summer internship program.

 

Seeking student interns to work with division technical staff on summer technical projects.

 

Required Skills

Interns must have:

  • Basic knowledge of computers; general proficiency of hardware, software and OS of both PC and Mac platforms.
  • Skills necessary to unpack, inventory and configure computers and mobile devices or to complete other tasks associated with a specific internship.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and to follow directions.
  • Ability to perform quality checks on your own work and the work of other interns.
  • Knowledge of Windows applications or interest in developing such knowledge; Word, Excel and some SharePoint.
  • Applicants who have successfully completed other technology-related internships or who have volunteered consistently and successfully with their school’s help desk are especially sought out.
  • Be able to be on time and have their-own transportation available. Please indicate on your application if you have your own transportation during the work day, or if you require assistance.

 

Program Incentives:

 

1.    Interns will have the opportunity to investigate a career in the technology industry.

2.    Interns will work closely with technical staff at various levels within the organization.

3.    Interns will develop skills vitally important in today’s business environment, including team-based interaction, the ability to manage outcome, and the capability to meet deadlines on a large-scale project.

 

 

Work Schedule:

 

Interns should expect to work 25-30 hours per week, Monday-Thursday.

 

The program will begin in late-June and end mid-August 2018.

 

Compensation:

 

Interns will receive an hourly rate of $10.10.
