General Definition of Work:

As a member of the Educational Technology Team within the Department of Accountability, Research, and Technology, Learning Technology Integrators collaborate with instructional staff and administration within assigned schools to innovate and integrate contemporary learning tools and pedagogies. Learning Technology Integrators assist teachers with the integration of technology in the classroom, by modeling and coaching digitally-infused instructional strategies. 

Essential Functions:

  •  Supports instructional staff with the integration and implementation of innovative pedagogical practices.
  • Plans and conducts regularly scheduled professional learning for individuals and groups to support the implementation of the Albemarle County Public School Educational Technology Plan.
  • Collaborates with instructional staff to implement Digital Citizenship and Digital Literacy in assigned schools.
  • Models effective uses of instructional technologies by planning and co-teaching with instructional staff.
  • Collaborates with building administration on building based instructional technology goals.
  • Assess the level of technological learning infusion by teacher, building and Division.
  • Serves as an active member of the Educational Technology Team, assigned building technology team and the DART advisory.
  • Promote and supports the student led Helpdesk.
  • Maintains school website for the assigned schools.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Outstanding interpersonal and teaching leadership skills for working effectively with faculty and staff.  Excellent communication skills in small or large groups as well as one-on-one.  Understanding of the Division’s Lifelong Learning Competencies and Seven Pathways, as well as of the Virginia Standards of Learning and best practice instructional strategies, particularly in working to address students’ learning needs.  Ability to assist with the building of and development of digital materials and resources for teachers and students.  Strong technical understandings and an ability and willingness to continue self-education regarding technical and learning science changes.

Education and Experience: 

Baccalaureate degree from an accredited four-year college or university is required. Must be certified as a teacher or eligible to be certified. Also requires experience in implementing instructional technologies in an educational setting, developing and presenting staff development for adult learners, and leading education projects.  


Physical Conditions and Nature of Work Contacts:

Work is typically performed in an office, conference room, classroom, and computer lab or server room. Continuous ability to communicate by telephone is necessary. Regular use of computers, printers and other peripherals is necessary. Work may include handling technology equipment up to 50 pounds. Occasional travel to locations throughout the School Division is required. Regular contact is made with School Division staff at all levels. Contacts are usually cooperative; however require tact, diplomacy and professionalism. External contacts with vendors and other IT agencies are necessary. Occasional need to perform urgent tasks to meet organizational deadlines. Frequent work activity after normal duty hours.
