General Scope of Work Under the direction of the Adult Programs Coordinator teaches Nurse Aide class in accordance with State and CATEC rules, regulations and policies
Essential Functions • Makes purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that provide for effective teaching strategies and maximize time on task. • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching strategies. • Demonstrates a strong grasp of subject matter. • Uses effective oral and written expression. • Keeps current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory and is willing to share this knowledge for continual improvement of the school's curriculum. • Develops, in accordance with school guidelines, reasonable rules of classroom behavior and appropriate techniques that are consistently applied. • Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with other staff members. • Continues professional growth through attendance at workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning. • Maintains membership in appropriate professional organizations. • Evaluates accomplishments of students on a regular basis using multiple assessment methods such as teacher made tests, samples of students' work, mastery skills check lists, criterion-referenced tests and norm-referenced tests.
Education and Experience • Hold a current, unrestricted Virginia license as a registered nurse who holds a current, unrestricted license in Virginia or a multistate licensure privilege; • Have two years of experience as a registered nurse within the previous five years and at least one year of experience in the provision of long-term care facility services. Such experience may include, but not be limited to, employment in a nurse aide education program or employment in or supervision of nursing students in a nursing facility or unit, geriatrics department, chronic care hospital, home care or other long-term care setting. Experience should include varied responsibilities, such as direct client care, supervision and education. |
