Follow and support lesson outlines and plans in assigned subject areas. • Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers in order to coordinate instructional efforts. • Prepare lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations. • Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods. • Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups in order to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers. • Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums, or on field trips. • Maintain confidentiality. • Conduct demonstrations to teach academic skills. • Enforce administration policies and rules governing students. • Grade homework and tests, and compute and record results, using answer sheets or electronic marking devices. • Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and damage. • Observe students' performance, and record relevant data to assess progress. • Organize and label materials, and display students’ work in a manner appropriate for their eye levels and perceptual skills. • Plan, prepare, and develop various teaching aids such as bibliographies, charts, and graphs. • Provide extra assistance to students with special needs, such as non-English-speaking students or those with physical and mental disabilities. • Take class attendance, and maintain attendance records. • Maintain computers in classrooms and laboratories, and assist students with hardware and software use. • Provide disabled students with assistive devices, supportive technology, and assistance accessing facilities such as restrooms. • Type, file, and duplicate materials. • Use computers, audiovisual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school including basic keyboard and filing training.

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:
Duties performed typically in school settings to include: classroom, gym, cafeteria, auditorium and recreational areas. Frequent walking, standing, light lifting, up to 40 pounds, and other limited physical activities are required. Occasional travel with students on field trips may be necessary. Occasional movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required. Occasional lifting of equipment such as audio-visuals weighing up to 50 pounds may be required. Occasional attendance to parent conferences, building-level meetings and division wide meetings and training activities beyond normal assigned hours is necessary. Daily personal close contact with children to provide classroom management and learning environment support is required. Regular contact with other staff members, parents and medical professional may be required. Contacts with community and division-level staff may require considerable tact and diplomacy.

EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated on the ability and effectiveness in carrying out the above responsibilities.
