SEAD Program Team Member

Albemarle County Public Schools seeks to hire members for the newly created SEAD (Social, Emotional, and Academic Development) Team.

SEAD Team members will serve in an innovative environment where school staff are supported in their efforts to foster equity and access for all students. The team is responsible for working with teachers, students, parents, and others to differentiate and personalize home, school and classroom needs of students with risk factors and students in crisis. The team members will provide expertise in one of integral team functions.

The SEAD Team is comprised of members who possess experience as one or more of the following. Other related positions/ experience will be considered.

• School or other Counselor
• School or other Psychologist
• Equity Coach (includes Culturally Responsive Teaching)
• Social Worker
• Special Education Teacher
• ESOL Teacher

SEAD Team members will report to the SEAD Team Leader.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Thorough knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and practices of the role held on the team; thorough knowledge and experience implementing culturally responsive practices; possess the skill/ability to work with teams and in a highly collaborative manner; skill in operating a computer and software; ability to analyze facts and to exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions; ability to prepare clear and concise reports; ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain working relationships with clients, co-workers, staff and the general public; ability to make sound judgments, and decisions in difficult situations.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

SEAD Team members must hold the appropriate certification/ license for their roles Master’s degree is preferred. School and/or community-based experience with risk factors for equitable student access to educational opportunities and achievement is preferred.

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:

Work is typically performed in a school setting to include classrooms, cafeteria and recreational areas. Regular coordination with principals, teachers, and other school staff necessary. Daily liaison activity throughout the school building and grounds is essential. Occasional attendance to school related activities throughout the state and after normal working hours is necessary. Daily contact is made with students, teachers and school administrators. Regular contact is made with parents and the community. These contacts may be non-cooperative. Regular contact is made with the school division staff.
