Diversity & Inclusion Generalist (Official Title: Human Resources Generalist I) Human Resources Department Non-Exempt, Pay Grade 13 The Diversity and Inclusion Generalist performs professional duties in proactively enhancing an effective human resources program, by actively building a workplace of diversity and inclusion and employee engagement. Areas of responsibility may include recruitment/selection, retention, salary administration, performance management, employee relations, and other generalist duties as assigned. The Generalist position will support the Local Government divisions and the below duties may apply to the Local Government division but it is often common to perform those duties of the other County divisions in the spirit of teamwork. Essential functions include and are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for aspects of diversity recruiting and new hire processing;
- Develop training, coaching and mentoring programs to raise the level of inclusivity for local government departments;
- Conduct a needs assessment and develop action plans for all local government departments to support the equity and inclusion of employees;
- Responsible for event and activity coordination;
- Responsible for the processing of employee status changes systems;
- Responsible for responding to all inquiries but not limited to: employee relations concerns, FLSA, Title VII, ADA, and policies;
- Responsible for monitoring and analyzing and recommending solutions to complex problems;
- Maintains a strong communication program for employees to include field visits, information disbursement and effective presentations;
- Conducts human resource related analyses and research and prepare related reports;
- Provides general assistance to the Recruitment and Staffing Manager for Schools;
- Utilizes information systems such as Great Plains and Talent Ed Recruit and Hire;
- Develops graphic presentations utilizing HRIS and other appropriate software technology;
- Performs computer functions on P.C. applications for development of meaningful spreadsheets, and data analysis culminating in data driven recommendations;
- Partners with the Office of Community Engagement staff and other diverse constituents groups to build networks across the organization, community and county population.
- Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university, Bachelor’s degree preferred. At least three years experience in teaching/training, local government, public administration and/or employee centered management. Working knowledge of personal computers and applications related to spreadsheets, word processing, database management and analysis. SHRM-CP/SCP preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of HR practices and employment laws, procedures, HRIS and general computer skills; thorough knowledge of departmental functions, organization and Counties policies; comprehensive knowledge of business English; ability to establish harmonious working relationships with others; ability to work under pressure; ability to organize and perform work independently; ability to deal effectively with other employees and the general public. Bilingual in English and another World Language preferred.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS: Work is typically performed in an office setting with occasional extended periods of time at computer terminals. Frequent visits to off-site school and county site locations are required. Occasional program necessity requires working hours beyond set hours and days. Communication may not be cooperative in nature and requires tact and discretion. Frequent telephonic and occasional personal contact with Department Heads, Principals, applicants, internal and external organizations at County and State level, employees and the general public is required.
SALARY: Hiring Range: $18.61 - $24.50/ per hour based on experience, education and internal equity. Annual Equivalent: $38,727 - $50,970
Internal candidates will receive pay adjustments in accordance with Local Government Personnel Policy, §P-60.
